Go Tigers!

We celebrated our 5 NBC wrestlers heading to state this week and wished our cheerleaders and dance team the best of luck as they prepare for their state competition at the end of the week!
We’re also fired up for Girls Basketball as they begin their district bracket and for Boys Basketball as they wrap up the regular season and head into districts!
Students competed in teams to stack boxes and spell out TIGERS — and the Purple Team came out victorious!
Good luck this week, Tigers! 🐯

This week we’re featuring McKenzie L. (5th Grade) and her awesome wrestling-inspired artwork! 🤼♂️💪

The high school band brought the tones and turned up the energy, getting our elementary students pumped up and ready to rock the day! Nothing like a little live music to start the morning on a high note! 🎵
Way to bring the beat and the spirit! 🎺

Great job to these students for pulling their weight and diving deep into the science behind motion!

¡Qué rico! 😋
NBC Students in Ms. Raya's Spanish class dive into grammar, cultural traditions, speaking skills, history — and of course… food!
Last semester, students learned about the origins of churros and enjoyed delicious homemade churros from SunShine Snacks in Schuyler. 😋
This week, they explored the African influence in Hispanic cultures and sampled Agua de Horchata, a traditional Mexican–Central American drink made with rice, cinnamon, and sugar. The horchata was generously donated by our friends at Burrito House in Schuyler, and students had a great time trying something new while deepening their cultural understanding. A big thank you to Jose and Luis Salinas for the generous donation — we truly enjoyed the horchata!

The NBC Public Schools 2026–2027 school calendar is now available! 🗓️✨

Be sure to mark your calendars — Graduation for the Class of 2027 will be held at NBC on SATURDAY, May 8, 2027, at 2:00 pm. 🎓
We’re excited to plan ahead for another great year at NBC!

SkillsUSA's THINK BIG Thursday was a huge success today at NBC! 💡✨
During TAP and lunch, 8-12th grade students had the opportunity to explore 42 expo booths featuring local professionals from business and industry, colleges and universities, and military representatives — all ready to help students learn, connect, and plan for their futures.
From scholarships and internships to part-time jobs, career skills, and certifications, students discovered real opportunities to start building their future NOW.
Students asked great questions, connected with professionals, picked up prizes, and even entered a drawing for FREE SkillsUSA dues for next year!
Thank you to all of our incredible community partners who helped make today possible — and to our students for showing up ready to THINK BIG about their futures! 🚀

Good luck, Tigers!

Our little learners became “secret admirers” for their classmates, pouring their hearts into creating special Valentines. Each child carefully wrote names, decorated with excitement, and delivered their cards with big smiles and even bigger anticipation!
The classroom was filled with surprises, giggles, and joy as students practiced kindness and celebrated one another. Moments like these remind us that even the smallest acts of thoughtfulness can make a BIG impact. ❤️
We are so proud of the love and care they shared! 💌✨

While most students admitted they prefer texting, they stepped out of their comfort zones to practice verbal communication and active listening. In this fun (and challenging!) activity, partners sat back-to-back. One student described how they were coloring a butterfly, while the other carefully listened and tried to recreate it based only on the verbal directions.
Each pair also had an observer who could only use nonverbal communication—facial expressions and gestures—to react to what was happening. 👀🤐
By the end, students agreed it was much easier to be the “talker” and discovered just how important strong listening skills really are. Great job, 6th grade!
